Position Overview

Join us in the enchanting town of El Paso for an extraordinary career as a Flight Nurse with Air Methods. Nestled amidst the majestic Texas landscapes, you will play a pivotal role in providing life-saving medical transport while enjoying breathtaking views and a rich cultural experience. Operate on a schedule of two 24-hour shifts per week, delivering top-notch critical care in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality critical care including assessment, triage, and treatment to ensure the safe transport of critical patients.
  • Deliver nursing care from initial contact until patient care is transferred to the accepting medical facility while maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing education, laboratory, and clinical experiences to maintain and enhance competency.
  • Utilize and maintain all medical equipment and supplies, ensuring aircraft readiness with proper safety briefings and clean conditions.
  • Function as an integral member of the medical flight crew by attending pre- and post-mission briefings and assisting pilots as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for neonatal/pediatric care during specialty transports and perform advanced skills as approved.
  • Participate in patient follow-up, outreach marketing, education activities, and team meetings.
  • Act as a preceptor and assist in the orientation of new employees and students.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in alignment with Air Methods Community Base Services’ protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Minimum three (3) years of recent critical care, emergency nursing, or similar experience within the last five years.
  • Current RN license(s) for states of practice and EMS or MICN certification/licensure as required by state regulations.
  • Current certifications in Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS (or equivalent as state mandates).
  • Must maintain a weight not to exceed 225 pounds (including an empty flight suit and boots) as part of operation and safety requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work a flexible schedule including on-call rotations.
  • Obligated to complete specialty certification (CFRN or CEN) within 24 months of hire, an Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC, TNCC, ATCN, TNATC, or equivalent), NRP certification, and NIMS/HazMat training as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
  • Pre-hospital experience.
  • Flight experience is a plus.

Compensation: Minimum pay: USD $77,750.40/Yr. | Maximum pay: USD $95,022.72/Yr.
