Position Overview

College Recruits 2024-2025: This req serves to support full-time entry‑level opportunities within the Nashville BU beginning January 2025 through October 2025. Specific opportunities will be aligned with ongoing work in the Nashville, TN area as well as remote project assignments. Assignments will be finalized one month prior to the anticipated start date.

Field Engineer

Position Overview

The Field Engineer will join the field operations team to obtain, evaluate, and coordinate all information needed for project construction per contract documents. This role ensures that work meets all safety standards, adheres to schedule requirements, and is executed to the highest quality. The incumbent will also be responsible for safeguarding and promoting Turner’s interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform line and grade work for building layout and control as required.
  • Assist in implementing the site safety program and ensure subcontractor compliance with Turner safety standards and applicable safety codes.
  • Help maintain contract documents and electronic web‑based records for field operations.
  • Prepare Daily Construction Reports (DCR’s) as required.
  • Review work in progress to verify adherence to accepted tolerances.
  • Review contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installation.
  • Assist in the preparation of project as‑built records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Two years of college education from an accredited program in Engineering, Construction, or a related field; building construction or engineering experience is preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills, a strong desire to learn, and effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with computer applications essential to perform the role.
  • A basic understanding of scheduling programs is preferred.

Engineering Assistant

Position Overview

This role is involved in the engineering and administration of projects within the Special Projects Division (SPD) or other Business Unit departments. The Engineering Assistant will report to a Project Engineer or Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in obtaining and reviewing information and approvals for shop drawings, product data, and samples.
  • Facilitate communication across all levels of the project team, including submission and response to RFIs.
  • Help prepare estimates for work changes by reviewing Change Order requests from subcontractors.
  • Study contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installation.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating contract documents, electronic records, and project logs.
  • Distribute required construction information to the appropriate parties.
  • Support the release of materials and equipment for fabrication to meet the construction schedule.
  • Assist in preparing final project records, including close‑out documents and Operations/Maintenance Manuals.

Required Qualifications

  • Two years of college education from an accredited program in Engineering, Construction, or a related field; or a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in building construction or engineering is preferred.
  • Knowledge of contract documents, drawings, and specifications is desirable.
  • Strong teamwork skills with a desire to learn and exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with computer applications essential for performing the responsibilities.
