Senior Content Designer

Position Overview

At Duolingo, our mission is to develop the best education in the world and make it universally available. As a Senior Content Designer in our Growth area, you will drive the messaging, content strategy, and naming for experiences that keep over 80 million monthly learners engaged. Working closely with product designers, product managers, and a talented localization team, you will craft content that champions our learners and continuously enhance our user experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Craft content experiences that champion our learners.
• Partner with product designers and product managers to turn product opportunities into successful features and interaction designs.
• Communicate Growth features by clearly explaining functionality to learners.
• Write our famed push notifications and occasionally ghostwrite for Duo the owl and related characters.
• Develop scalable content solutions, including maintaining content style guides.
• Run experiments and share insights to validate hypotheses about copy.
• Collaborate with our localization team to ensure top-notch translations.

Required Qualifications

• A storyteller’s heart and a strategist’s brain.
• A portfolio featuring UX writing samples (portfolio submission is mandatory).
• 5+ years of experience crafting content for a consumer app.
• Ability to express complex ideas in simple, plain language.
• Experience taking a leadership stance, in title or behavior.
• Experience writing copy for multilingual audiences.
• Confidence presenting your work to diverse teams.
• Willingness and ability to work from Pittsburgh, PA.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing content guidelines within a design system.
• Curiosity about visual design and its intersection with content.
• Experience creating novel content models.
• Proven ability to collaborate with translators.
• A background or interest in mobile gaming.

• Compensation: Eligible for a robust package including base salary, equity, and world-class benefits. The starting base salary range is $134,000 - $247,500 (actual salary may vary based on level, experience, performance, and other factors).
