Position Overview
Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. is seeking an entry-level electrical engineer for our Indianapolis, IN Headquarters. In this role you will assist in delivering electrical engineering services to our clients and be assigned to a project team tackling challenging environmental infrastructure projects. You will gain exposure to water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects while being supported by a team-based culture that fosters learning and growth.
Key Responsibilities
You will be involved in all phases of electrical engineering for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure – including power distribution, motor control, grounding and lightning protection, interior/exterior lighting, standby power generation systems, MCC design, specification writing, and construction cost estimating.
- Assist team members in engineering tasks such as field work, inspections, engineering reports, construction engineering, and simple design calculations.
- Perform assignments using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
- Review construction drawings and specifications.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam certification
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
- Ability to speak and write professionally
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills
- Must be able to procure a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of Indiana in the future
- Sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals with the ability to apply them to real-world applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Control System coursework or experience is a plus
- AutoCAD experience is a plus
