In our mission to change the way people see the world, Planet is looking for a strategic Industry Marketing Manager to grow our business in the Defense and Intelligence sector. In this full-time, hybrid role (3 days per week from our San Francisco or Washington D.C. office), you will collaborate with global stakeholders to develop compelling messaging, enable sales with targeted marketing assets, and shape our narrative for military, defense, and national intelligence audiences worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow the market for our unique AI-powered solutions that detect threats across globally dispersed military, commercial sites, and open water.
- Support new GTM initiatives (product launches, solution development, partnerships); assess gaps and identify opportunities for market expansion.
- Ensure compelling positioning and messaging are delivered to military and defense audiences.
- Produce and maintain a portfolio of industry-specific marketing assets and sales enablement tools (presentations, data sheets, demos, battlecards, etc.).
- Partner with sales to strategize account-specific marketing programs and content to support pipeline growth and expansion.
- Work closely with broader marketing teams (growth, regional, customer, creative, and communications) to execute industry and account-based marketing campaigns.
- Host customer-facing webinars to showcase our solutions.
- Collaborate with technical teams to create interactive demos and narratives for trade shows, industry events, and sales outreach.
- Support co-marketing efforts with strategic partners via effective partnering with Partner Sales and Marketing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree.
- 6+ years of product, solutions, or industry marketing experience.
- Experience working within the military or defense sector.
- Track record in positioning and marketing B2G/enterprise products.
- Exceptional listening, communication, and presentation skills.
- Creative and analytical thinking with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proven experience partnering with product, sales, and executive stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with international sales teams.
- Active, current, or previously held security clearance.

Compensation
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $127,000—$158,700 USD. Additionally, you may be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity), with the final salary determined by job-related experience, skills, and location.
