Job Description

Position Overview

ENTRY LEVEL ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – Moreno Cardenas Inc (MCi) Consulting Engineers – El Paso is currently recruiting for a full-time entry-level electrical engineering position. Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – P&C Engineering, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing and determining electrical requirements for various P&C assets. Previous professional-level work experience or internship preferred.

Salary: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
Schedule: Full-time
Location: In person

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations to analyze substation electrical and/or P&C designs.
  • Responsible for the preparation of protection and control engineering designs and construction specifications.
  • Responsible for facilitating procurement of construction materials and/or services by contractors and the inspection and compliance of all the assigned projects.
  • Assist engineering team with field work as required by project.
  • Identify and manage capital and grid modernization projects.
  • Perform other related tasks that are not included but are within the context of the duties defined.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess the required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodation, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
  • A strong desire to work in the electrical engineering consulting field.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited university.
  • Knowledge of Power Systems and/or Power Engineering.
  • EIT certification from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers (not required).
  • Sound electrical engineering principles, plus knowledge of AutoCAD, Aspen One-Liner, Math CAD, Excel, Word and experience in general electrical engineering software.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code as it pertains to substation and transmission facilities preferred; fundamentals of AC and DC circuits, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical engineering design and techniques, electrical construction methods and specifications, project estimating and scheduling, and applicable standards.
  • Ability to adapt and quickly learn.
  • Ability to multitask and manage several projects at once.
