Mechanical Design Engineer

Position Overview

We’re working confidentially with a specialist engineering organization operating in the electrical power, controls, and industrial systems space. They’re looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys owning designs end-to-end and working closely with Electrical and Controls Engineers on complex, safety‑critical equipment. This role is hands‑on, product‑focused, and ideal for someone who enjoys seeing designs go from concept through manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

• Full product lifecycle ownership – concept, detailed design, validation, and manufacture
• Mechanical design of systems and enclosures that interface with electrical controls, power equipment, and panels
• Close collaboration with Electrical and Controls Engineers to ensure compliant, integrated designs
• Produce detailed Solid Works models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation
• Support testing, build, and validation activities

Required Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong experience with Solid Works
• Exposure to UL standards, ideally UL 891 and/or UL 508A (highly desirable)
• Experience designing products regulated for power, controls, or industrial applications
• Comfortable working across design, test, and validation phases

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with simulation and analysis is beneficial
• MATLAB exposure would be an advantage, but not essential
