Job Description

Position Overview

First Things First is a leader in supporting Arizona's children from birth to age 5 by building a family-centered, equitable, and high-quality early childhood system. The Brand & Visual Design Manager will leverage strong creative and marketing skills to create a wide range of digital and print visual materials that advance the agency’s strategic communications, storytelling, and brand development. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing & Brand Strategy, this role also supports internal teams and grantees by training on brand standards and managing content systems. Remote work may be available based on business needs, with all work performed within Arizona unless an exception is approved in advance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Brand Stewardship – Serve as the primary point of contact to review and approve branded materials from both internal teams and external partners, ensuring consistency in tone, style, design, and messaging.
  • Asset Library Management – Maintain and update the digital asset library including templates, multimedia assets, and the print/promo catalog to support approved resources.
  • Design & Production – Develop and produce high-quality visual materials for print and digital formats, ensuring all products meet brand standards.
  • Website & Email Marketing – Oversee website updates (WordPress) and email campaigns (Mailchimp), troubleshoot issues, and manage audience segmentation for timely communications.
  • Training & Collaboration – Provide brand onboarding and training for staff and grantees while working collaboratively across internal teams to streamline workflows.
  • Team Collaboration – Act in support of First Things First’s culture and mission, collaborating with various stakeholders and seizing opportunities within Marketing and Strategic Initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Three to five years (or more) of direct experience in visual design, branding, email marketing, digital asset management, and multimedia production.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Experience with Mailchimp, WordPress or similar platforms, including contact/list management.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to attend regular meetings in Phoenix and travel up to 10% across Arizona.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with video editing tools such as Premiere or equivalent video editing and AI tools.
  • Familiarity with early childhood or human services systems/policy.
