Position Overview
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5 pm
The Engineer is responsible for participating in logistics analysis and engineering work involving all aspects of transportation and warehouse design. They solve problems presented to them to support customers, development activities, or request for proposals by designing, developing, analyzing, or implementing comprehensive supply chain solutions. They collect data, perform transportation, statistical and mapping analysis, design customized solutions and work on a team that is developing or implementing the processes and service solutions for the customer. They may implement and design customized solutions, use engineering tools for modeling, or utilize tools for implementation. Under the guidance of their manager, they create models, tools, or processes that will be used daily by Analysts and Operations, participate in location startups, process improvement teams, and cost saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct logistics analysis in support of both operational and new sales projects.
- Conduct the development and implementation of engineering solutions, including programming/software development.
- Provide maintenance and support activities for all existing solutions, including software maintenance as needed.
- Prepare technical and user documentation and presentations for all solutions.
- Design, implement, or analyze one customer solution at a time with supervision as assigned.
- Work effectively as a team member to accomplish assigned goals.
- Participate in cross-functional groups to achieve expected customer outcomes.
- Interact with internal and external customers as needed.
- Support the preparation of proposal documents and engineering reports or presentations for customers and management.
- Help ensure that solutions meet financial goals and provide cost savings.
- Meet customer deadlines by delivering required designs and analysis.
- Develop an understanding of customer needs and take actions to ensure they are met.
- Understand customer operations, business models, and expectations.
- Resolve issues quickly by communicating problem status and working with subject matter experts, guided by senior associates.
- Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years comparable experience designing, developing, implementing, and executing supply chain solutions.
- Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Management Science, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline Education: required.
- Fundamental understanding of transportation, warehousing, supply chain, and logistics concepts.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with internal and external customers.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint) as well as Minitab.
- Ability to analyze data and conduct extensive research.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities.
- Developing presentation skills.
- Demonstrated aptitude for developing written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Customer orientation and the ability to work as a team player.
- Ability to work independently and concurrently on a range of unstructured tasks/projects with proper prioritization.
- Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Willingness to travel as necessary, adhere to the required schedule and location, and comply with background investigation and drug screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Skills in MS Project and Visio a plus.
- Intermediate computer skills in supply chain network modeling design tools preferred.
