Job Description

Job Description

Our client, a leading innovator in advanced manufacturing solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic, remote-first engineering team. This pivotal role will involve the end-to-end design and development of complex mechanical systems and components, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability. You will be instrumental in conceptualizing new product designs, performing detailed CAD modeling and simulations (FEA, CFD), and generating precise manufacturing drawings and documentation. Collaboration is key in this role; you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration and successful project delivery. Your expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting design challenges, conducting rigorous design reviews, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our product lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of novel mechanical systems and components from ideation through production.
  • Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor) for 3D modeling, assembly design, and detailed part creation.
  • Perform comprehensive engineering analyses, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress and thermal analysis, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for flow and heat transfer.
  • Create detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical, software, and control systems.
  • Conduct thorough design reviews, identify potential issues, and implement effective solutions to ensure product robustness and performance.
  • Develop and execute validation and verification test plans to confirm design integrity and functionality.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and materials to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of engineering best practices and documentation standards.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and project objectives in a remote setting.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and product development.
  • Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor) and FEA/CFD tools.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, 3D printing) and material science.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Work Environment: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • PLM Experience: Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems is a plus.
  • Market Success: Demonstrated success in bringing complex mechanical products to market.

Remote Work Flexibility

This role is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States. We are committed to fostering a collaborative and innovative virtual work environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a passion for engineering excellence and a desire to make a significant impact.
