In the CEIE role, you will have an opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team of industry professionals across the Information Technology (IT) and Critical Environments (CE) spectrum within Microsoft’s 24x7x365 mission-critical datacenters. Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) powers our cloud services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. You will help deliver core infrastructure and foundational technologies while enjoying professional development opportunities, including Career Rotation Programs and Diversity & Inclusion trainings. Our infrastructure spans more than 200 datacenters in 32 countries, serving over 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide, with environmental sustainability at the forefront.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain ICS availability, data quality, service and change management, reporting, and security of all ICS systems in the Data Centers.
  • Oversee site-level ICS program and project management, and govern as well as participate in global initiatives related to ICS systems.
  • Manage, service, and govern Microsoft’s electrical and mechanical industrial control systems (ICS) including servers, applications, networks, and device infrastructure within our 24x7x365 mission-critical datacenters.
  • Govern logical and physical access, approval, and permissions related to all ICS systems, networks, workstations, and servers used for datacenter monitoring and controls.
  • Empower a culture of safety and security in global datacenter operations by complying with CO+I’s safety programs and policies and completing compliance knowledge assessments.
  • Develop positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, systems engineering, or industrial controls; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a critical environment.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or applicable field experience in Critical Environments, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical disciplines.
  • 3+ years of experience in an operational, mission-critical 24x7x365 facility.
  • 1.5+ years of experience in the design and/or commissioning of Industrial Controls Systems (ICS) in datacenter critical environments, including Modbus and BACnet protocols.
  • 2+ years of experience with the operation and maintenance of building electrical systems (power distribution, grounding, fire alarm, and related controls) and mechanical systems (HVAC, Chilled Water, DX Refrigerant, Evaporative, and related controls).
  • Project management experience with a focus on agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and documents.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and execute multiple concurrent mission-critical infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to balance competing demands for resources and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and meet deadlines.
  • Provide meaningful and timely reporting for weekly success metrics.

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: Service Engineering IC3 base pay ranges are USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year across the U.S., and USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year in designated locations such as the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
