Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Board Design Engineer in Austin, TX. In this role you will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating complex server boards that power next-generation platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including silicon design, firmware, and manufacturing to deliver innovative solutions to enterprise customers.
Compensation: $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-complexity server boards including processor boards, power delivery subsystems, and peripheral interface cards.
- Create detailed schematic designs and guide PCB layout to ensure signal integrity and thermal management.
- Validate board designs through simulations and physical testing to ensure functionality and performance.
- Debug hardware issues and provide root cause analysis with effective solutions.
- Collaborate with silicon, firmware, and manufacturing teams to align designs with product specifications.
- Generate comprehensive design documentation including schematics, BOMs, and test plans.
- Perform signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal analysis to optimize board performance and reliability.
- Work with PCB fabricators and assembly houses to ensure designs are manufacturable at scale, incorporating DFM feedback.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in board design for high-performance computing or server products.
- Proficiency in schematic capture tools (e.g., OrCAD, Cadence Allegro Design Entry).
- Expertise in PCB layout tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro PCB Editor).
- Strong understanding of high-speed signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal design principles.
- Familiarity with interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, NVMe, USB, and high-speed serial links.
- Experience with system-level debug tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Knowledge of power delivery network design and voltage regulator module selection.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
