Key Responsibilities

  • Collect information and assess a patient's condition by taking vital signs, obtaining medical history, performing physical examinations, and reviewing laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Monitor, record, and report patient responses and any changes in condition using Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop, implement, and coordinate patient care plans.
  • Supervise licensed practical/vocational nurses, nurse assistants, and other support staff as needed.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and other treatments as prescribed.
  • Perform clinical procedures including wound care, specimen collection, and emergency response protocols.
  • Prepare shift handoff reports using SBAR or facility-specific tools to ensure continuity of care.
  • Advocate for the best interests of the patient and serve as a communicator between the patient and the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and family members about health promotion, disease prevention, treatment procedures, and self-care management.
  • Safeguard protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA regulations and maintain strict infection control standards using proper PPE.
  • Document and report safety events and ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility-mandated procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Current and valid RN license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Recent nursing experience preferred; 2–3 years preferred for high-acuity settings such as ICU, ER, or Med-Surg
  • Knowledge of nursing procedures and protocols
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to provide compassionate and reliable care while adapting quickly to different facility environments
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts with prolonged standing and safe patient handling
