Position Overview
Arizona Public Service generates reliable, affordable and clean energy for 2.7 million Arizonans. In this role, the Business Analyst Senior / Consultant participates in a variety of data analysis and modeling functions including identification of resource needs and selections, evaluation of wholesale markets, system operations planning and assistance, and regulatory support. This position leads teams in evaluating resource plans, market changes, and other complex analyses that require cross-departmental input or external research.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct complex analysis of wholesale markets, system operations, and other business or operational plans using advanced qualitative and quantitative techniques.
- Develop resource plan alternatives based on market trends, wholesale market changes, and analytical findings critical to the business.
- Lead teams in evaluating resource plans and implementing solutions.
- Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective solution delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Business Analyst Senior:
- BS/BA Degree in business, engineering, economics, finance, information technology, mathematics, physics or a similar quantitative field.
- Plus six (6) years of related business experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Understanding of economic unit commitment/dispatch, wholesale market operations and the characteristics of power resources is desired.
- Familiarity with natural gas markets, including contracts and utilization within a power plant.
- Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.
- Ability to lead teams in evaluations and solution implementation.
- Business Consultant:
- BS/BA Degree in business, engineering, economics, finance, information technology, mathematics, physics or a similar quantitative field.
- Plus eight (8) years of related business experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Understanding of economic unit commitment/dispatch, wholesale market operations and the characteristics of power resources is desired.
- Working knowledge of natural gas markets, including contracts and utilization within a power plant.
- Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.
- Capability to lead teams in evaluations and solution implementation.
- Proven ability to work with key internal and external stakeholders across all levels of management.
- High level of computer proficiency including experience with industry programming languages and extensive use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word.
