Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct tax-related civil enforcement investigations.
  • Collect delinquent taxes and secure overdue tax returns from taxpayers.
  • Provide customer service by explaining taxpayer rights and IRS policies.
  • Conduct interviews with taxpayers and their representatives in various environments.
  • Perform credit and financial analysis of taxpayers' financial records.
  • Analyze financial information and evaluate assets to determine taxpayers' ability to pay.
  • Provide guidance on financial alternatives for resolving tax obligations.
  • Conduct financial investigations in cases where taxpayers are uncooperative.
  • Search public records and financial information to locate assets.
  • Summon taxpayer records and financial information from third parties.
  • Develop feasible plans of action to resolve tax cases.
  • Plan and execute appropriate enforcement actions to secure assessments of past due returns.
  • Prepare affidavits and testimony for court cases related to tax enforcement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in any major, or one year of collections, accounting, accounts receivable, or finance experience.
  • Knowledge of business organization and commercial practices.
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques and methods applicable to financial analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of business law, including laws governing debts and negotiable instruments.
  • Knowledge of delinquent loan collection processes and accounting principles.
  • Understanding of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) and related federal tax regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in evaluating income assets and credit for collecting delinquent payments.
  • Experience in investigating financial transactions as a real estate or insurance broker.
  • Experience in establishing or operating a small business with budget administration.
