Job Description

Position Overview

The Office Engineer is responsible for managing the flow of documents between internal and external partners, preparing project reports for the team and coordinating teams’ participation in engineering and construction projects. Compensation: $105000 - $125000 /year

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages project engineering activities to ensure compliance with company and contract requirements and supports the overall construction schedule
  • Supports the development, updating, and approval of construction schedules
  • Provides technical support for construction efforts including design interpretation, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, and constructability reviews
  • Interfaces with on-site departments to resolve problems, ensure quality of construction, project safety, and adherence to project specifications
  • Supervises field layout and surveying activities
  • Observes workflow, anticipates potential schedule changes, and coordinates with superintendents on material delivery
  • Reviews change order drawings and specifications; develops, tracks, and negotiates proposals and change orders
  • Assists in bid preparation, including take-offs, requests for pricing, project set up, quality control, and design reviews
  • Reviews, analyzes, and resolves field construction problems and discrepancies
  • Advises the Project Manager of serious schedule conflicts and works with field supervision to resolve them
  • Analyzes permanent material requirements, solicits quotations, and prepares formal purchase agreements
  • Develops requirements for specialized equipment and collaborates with vendors to obtain customized equipment

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of construction industry engineering experience
  • Solid knowledge of surveying, equipment applications, and overall engineering
  • Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications, and to recognize safety standards and issues
  • Knowledge of general contract and subcontract documents
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with both customers and employees
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
