Position Overview

In this role, you will develop medium to highly complex logical database designs, data models, and relational data definitions to support corporate and customer information systems. You will work closely with customers, vendors, business analysts, and application development teams to resolve information flow issues while participating in multiple large and complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of data standards, policies, and procedures.
- Support the development of short- and long-term solutions for information architecture strategies and ensure compliance with IT teams.
- Collaborate with data architects to design a common customer view and help create detailed specifications for various IT projects.
- Document and maintain all data definitions, sources, business meanings, and usage information, contributing to a single source data strategy.
- Understand the framework for representing data elements including entities, relationships, and attributes, and recommend improvements for data integrity.
- Follow data profiling and preventative procedures to improve data quality and create metrics for identifying data-related issues.
- Provide input for strategic planning, gather and document data needs, and translate business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Monitor data changes using appropriate tools, resolve production problems/system abends, and support process improvements.
- Assist in coaching and training customers in the use of business intelligence tools to enhance decision-making capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- At least three years of IT work experience in data modeling, data analysis, relational DBMS design and support.
- Solid understanding of logical database design principles and methodologies for data flow within and between systems.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience analyzing complex data sets with SQL.
- Previous experience or knowledge of health care data domains.
