Job Description

Position Overview

The West Texas Sales Representative will drive sales growth in the premium proppant marketplace for Preferred Sands – a leading supplier of high‐quality frac, industrial, and resin‐coated sand products. Based remotely with a West Texas focus and requiring 50%+ travel, this role is pivotal in developing new business opportunities, managing existing accounts, and reinforcing our position as the performance standard in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Development: Conduct market research to identify new and expanding opportunities in West Texas. Evaluate competitive pricing, market share, and customer needs to implement winning sales strategies.
  • Account Management: Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers. Ensure satisfaction through proactive support and by resolving delivery, packaging, invoicing, and service issues.
  • New Business Acquisition: Generate leads from directories, industry news, and networking. Travel across the territory to meet prospective clients and present tailored solutions.
  • Technical Consultation: Assess client-specific application needs and collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure optimal product alignment.
  • Sales Execution: Prepare pricing proposals, negotiate contracts, establish credit terms, and ensure accurate documentation and reporting of sales activities.
  • Customer Experience: Serve as a reliable contact to guarantee on-time product delivery and consistently high service standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of B2B sales experience, preferably in the oil & gas, industrial materials, or energy sectors
  • Familiarity with frac sand or proppant-related products is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, high-travel environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% or more throughout West Texas
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Geology, or a related field preferred
