Assistant Superintendent & Project Engineer

Position Overview

Assistant Superintendent & Project Engineer – Commercial Construction based in Houston, TX. A leading commercial General Contractor is seeking a candidate to support ground-up commercial projects valued at over $5M. Compensation: $90k–$105k Base + Package. This role is ideal for a Project Engineer ready to step into the field, support daily site operations, and grow into a Superintendent track.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Superintendent with daily site operations on ground-up commercial projects
• Assist with scheduling, site logistics, and coordination of subcontractors
• Review drawings, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
• Perform site walks and assist with quality control and safety compliance
• Coordinate inspections to ensure work aligns with project plans and schedules
• Track progress and report field updates to the project team
• Assist in resolving field issues and support project closeout activities

Required Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of experience in commercial construction
• Experience on ground-up commercial projects valued at over $5M
• Background as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or Assistant Superintendent
• Strong desire to grow into a Superintendent role
• Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and field activities
• Proficiency with construction software (Procore preferred)
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
