Job Description
Position Overview
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer at Copper and Brass Sales – a leading distributor and processor serving the Aerospace, Automotive, Electrical, Medical, and Oil & Gas industries – you will be responsible for programming, operating, and training on critical equipment. Your role centers on developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes that meet strict product specifications and quality standards, including equipment with PLC controls. You will also coordinate manufacturing launches for new or revised products and drive process improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on equipment utilizing PLC, including routers, waterjets, CNC machines, saws, and robots.
- Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs, applying expertise in product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
- Provide manufacturing decision-making insights by calculating production, labor, and material costs, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements.
- Prepare detailed product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintain product and company reputation by ensuring compliance with government regulations.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair services to keep equipment operational, adhering to manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures.
- Oversee the product and process database by writing computer programs and entering data.
- Lead the development of an apprenticeship program for new or inexperienced employees with the intent to establish a formal internship program.
- Drive process improvement initiatives, resolve problems, manage projects, and provide employee training to enhance overall efficiency.
- Improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost reduction, quality enhancement, and increased efficiency.
- Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
- Assist in enhancing systems related to production control, standard operating procedures, safety, and quality control.
