Job Description

Position Overview

Moffatt & Nichol, a global leader in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects, is seeking a Civil Engineer with water resources and site development experience for its Baltimore, MD (preferred) or Philadelphia, PA team. You will support complex projects—from port/cargo terminal upland site work (concept development to construction services) and dredging to municipal projects—with a focus on minimizing impact to live operations. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to lead projects and teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering design and construction documents for large heavy civil projects
  • Study project concepts, architectural drawings, and models to design construction projects
  • Collect and analyze site data including maps, aerial photographs, soil reports, and hydrological data
  • Estimate project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs
  • Develop feasibility studies and environmental impact analyses
  • Produce detailed engineering documents including specifications, plans, and schedules
  • Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to construction specifications and safety standards
  • Train and guide operators, and enforce project policies and procedures
  • Provide engineering information by addressing questions and requests from stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements and advise management as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 3 to 6 years of experience working on heavy civil projects (including site layout, stormwater management design, erosion control, and utilities)
  • Engineer in Training certificate is required
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer licensure is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with stormwater modeling software
  • Experience with MicroStation and SWMM is a strong plus
  • Willingness to travel monthly to Baltimore, MD if based in the Philadelphia, PA office
