Job Description

Position Overview

Charter Global is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer (Process Engineer) to serve in a regional engineering leadership role focused on process engineering and project management activities. In this position, you will oversee maintenance, improvement, and expansion investments through all project phases including definition, engineering, execution, commissioning, and startup. You will also act as a technical expert on coagulant manufacturing processes while driving continuous improvement and resolving manufacturing issues. Location: Baltimore, MD Schedule: Full time (Direct Hire)

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all EHS requirements.
  • Manage multiple capital investment projects (USD $0.1-3M) simultaneously at various manufacturing sites.
  • Oversee and manage external engineering teams, activities, and deliverables on larger projects or for disciplines beyond internal capabilities.
  • Collaborate with sourcing managers on procurement activities.
  • Perform process design including:
    P&IDs & PFDs, production capacity analysis, determining process conditions, writing Process Functional Descriptions, creating General Arrangement drawings, sizing and selection of process equipment, selecting appropriate materials of construction, and specifying equipment/instrument parameters.
  • Collaborate with plant management on capital projects to ensure proper process design and equipment specifications.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing and maintenance issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement of plant manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Assist with all aspects of process safety including management of change (MOC), process hazard analysis (PHA) and risk assessment, auditing safety policies, conducting pre-startup safety reviews, and investigating process incidents.
  • Assist with the creation of SOPs for new and existing equipment and processes as needed.
  • Work closely with plant personnel to optimize processes.
  • Maintain plant drawings, equipment, and instrument indexes.
  • Travel up to 25% as required to other coagulant sites and internationally for collaboration and meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: 4-year bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience Required: Minimum 3 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment with a working knowledge of plant process flows and operations
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and ERP SAP
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of chemical processing equipment, plant processes, environmental guidelines, and applicable laws
