Position Overview

In this role as the Lead Medical Assistant, you will provide patient care at an expert level while mentoring MA staff and driving clinic-specific initiatives for process improvement. You will work under the supervision of a provider (TX) or physician (FL) and help build a culture of quality, confidentiality, and infection control.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs all duties at an expert level within the Medical Assistant's scope, including operating diagnostic equipment, removing staples, changing wound dressings, obtaining cultures and blood specimens, performing EKGs, and sterilizing equipment using the autoclave.
- Spends 50% of time on clinic metrics, projects, and initiatives assigned by clinic leadership to support and drive workflow and process improvement.
- Proactively identifies solutions to non-standard requests and resolves moderately complex problems independently.
- Records patient care documentation accurately and in a timely manner, and ensures documentation quality among MA staff.
- Serves as a "champion" by mentoring and training MA staff and providing subject matter expertise.
- Assists in coordinating work among team members as needed.
- Promotes a positive work environment in the clinic as a culture ambassador.
- Coordinates patient care per provider direction and adheres to established policies and procedures.
- Respects and enforces patient confidentiality at all times.
- Organizes exam and treatment rooms, stocks supplies, cleans rooms, sterilizes instruments, and maintains accurate inventory and supply rotation logs.
- Creates and maintains an environment that supports infection prevention.
- Conducts telephone and in-person screenings for information gathering without exercising clinical judgment.
- Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders.
- Ensures all Medical Assistants receive the training necessary to continually improve performance.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- 5+ years as a certified Medical Assistant or a combination of 7+ years certified and non-certified experience (with 3+ years certified).
- Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at the time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with proven ability to mentor and train others.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
- Intermediate Excel skills and expert computer literacy with electronic health records.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and assume a leadership role until higher care arrives.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with proven flexibility to adapt to change.
- Must complete Tuberculosis screening and provide proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of lead or supervisory experience.
- Bilingual skills.

- Compensation: Hourly pay ranging from $20.00 to $35.72 per hour based on full-time employment, determined by local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
