Information Technology Analyst II: $57,044.00 - $72,800.00

Information Technology Analyst III: $67,288.00 - $85,878.00

Information Technology Analyst IV: $80,210.00 - $102,388.00

The County of Fresno invites applications for the position of Information Technology Analyst II/III/IV - Database Administrator. The incumbent extracts, loads, and manages organizational data; designs, develops, and maintains enterprise-level database systems; ensures database hardware and software are current; implements and ensures compliance with enterprise data integrity standards; monitors and optimizes database performance; performs backup and recovery; develops and maintains database workflows and tools; and performs related work as required.

HYBRID TELEWORK AVAILABILITY (Remote Work Options)– Some departments may offer hybrid telework opportunities, depending on departmental directives. Currently, the Information Technology Services Department offers hybrid telework options that require at least two in-office days per week. All schedules are subject to manager or supervisor approval. Candidates invited to interview for open positions may confirm the availability of hybrid telework opportunities and discuss details with the hiring department.

Please note: The current vacancies exist within the Information Technology Services Department. However, the eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill vacancies in other County departments as they occur.

Samples of Duties

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Technical and operational aspects of administering enterprise-level SQL Server and MySQL databases;
  • SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS);
  • Database performance monitoring and reporting tools;
  • Configuring and managing parameters to ensure fast and efficient database query responses.

Skills/Abilities to:

  • Design, install, and implement databases to meet end-user and organizational requirements;
  • Use transaction recovery techniques and perform database backups;
  • Apply effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve outages and performance issues;
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail;
  • Document and maintain processes and procedures ensuring database security, availability, and integrity;
  • Manage multiple work assignments, set priorities, and meet established deadlines effectively and independently;
  • Communicate and present technical information clearly, both orally and in writing, to technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across all organizational levels, with partner agencies, and with the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Information Technology Analyst II

Option 1:

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, paid work experience developing, administering, or maintaining enterprise-level databases.

Substitution: Possession of a valid certification from Microsoft in database administration obtained or renewed within the last five (5) years, may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

Option 2:

Education: Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system with at least fifteen (15) units of coursework in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

and

Experience: One (1) year of full-time, paid work experience developing, administering, or maintaining enterprise-level databases.

Information Technology Analyst III

Option 1:

Experience: Four (4) years of full-time, paid work experience developing, administering, or maintaining enterprise-level databases.

Substitution: Possession of a valid certification from Microsoft in database administration obtained or renewed within the last five (5) years, may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

Option 2:

Education: Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system with at least fifteen (15) units of coursework in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

and

Option 2:

and

Experience: Three (3) year of full-time, paid work experience developing, administering, or maintaining enterprise-level databases.

In addition to the options listed above, the following may also be required:

License: Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

SELECTION PROCESS

Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
