Position Overview
Eden Senior Care, founded in 2016, is a growing Healthcare Management company that manages and operates Skilled Nursing, Rehabilitation, and Assisted Living communities throughout Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. As part of our mission to support community success through strong leadership and corporate support, we are seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) for our Edenbrook Edina facility in Edina, Minnesota.
Shift: Generally 8am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
In this role, you will handle all secretarial and administrative tasks essential for smooth medical operations. You will act as the communication bridge between medical staff and patients, ensuring information is correctly stored and transmitted throughout the unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and distribute necessary forms
- Manage staff scheduling
- Maintain appointment calendars and other schedules
- Transcribe doctor’s orders accurately
- Maintain medical charts and graph vital signs
- Issue or locate documents such as birth/death certificates and discharge notes
- Update databases with patient information
- Collaborate with both medical and non-medical staff
- Order supplies when needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- At least 6 months of proven experience as a Health Unit Coordinator or in a similar role
- Experience with managing medical records and databases
- Good knowledge of relevant medical terminology
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities
- High school diploma
- A background in HUC, RHIA, RHIT, or HIM is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in medical transcription
- Successful completion of a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) training program
- Professional certification in health information management
