Position Overview
As a Junior Data Technician at webCemeteries, you will play a vital role in delivering accurate data and mapping services that empower cemeteries to improve business processes and better serve families. This hybrid role combines the responsibilities of a Data Entry Specialist and a Mapping Technician depending on current projects. You will take data from various sources – primarily paper documents – and accurately enter it into webCemeteries’ Management System using in-house software. Your work directly influences the first impression customers have when they view their data. This role requires keen attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote environment. This position reports to the Senior Data Technician.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, interpret, and enter data from a variety of source documents (scans, photographs, etc.) into webCemeteries’ applications or databases.
- Ensure data accuracy by double-checking completed entries.
- Follow project-specific rules and instructions for data entry and management.
- Create, update, and maintain cemetery maps using webCemeteries’ Mapping and Data Entry applications.
- Collaborate with the Senior Data Technician and Project Coordinator to complete mapping projects and resolve issues.
- Communicate with team members and use project management software (e.g., Monday.com) to track project progress, time, and issues.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) or GSuite tools, and familiarity with Windows software.
- Accurate keyboard skills with a demonstrated typing speed of 65 WPM or more.
- Strong English language skills, including grammar, punctuation, and common name spellings.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable learning new tools and adapting to changing technologies.
- Strong organizational skills and time management to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Focused and productive in a remote work setting.
- US-based and legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with mapping or GIS tools.
- Familiarity with Monday.com project management software.

- Compensation: $15.00 per hour
