Project Manager - Solar Energy Systems

Position Overview

National Solar Technologies, a growing solar installer in suburban Buffalo, NY, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Solar Project Manager to join our team and drive successful commercial solar installations from design through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform site surveys and use solar design software (Helioscope preferred) to analyze and optimize system layouts
• Research, evaluate, and select materials and components; create comprehensive bills of materials for each project
• Coordinate with local agencies, municipalities, utilities, subcontractors, vendors, and installation crews to keep projects on track
• Review solar energy system drawings and schematics; provide technical support during design and installation phases
• Meet with customers, subcontractors, and crews at job sites; perform commissioning and ensure smooth handoffs
• Collaborate with engineers, sales staff, and field teams to optimize costs, productivity, and customer satisfaction while maintaining safety standards

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with technical installation on commercial solar systems
• Strong ability to read and understand solar energy system drawings and schematics
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple stakeholder groups
• Detail-oriented with strong project management capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 or 4-year Technical Degree
• Experience with Helioscope or similar solar design software (Aurora, PVsyst)
• Background managing commercial solar projects from 50kW to multi-MW scale
• Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and AHJ permitting
