Position Overview

KOCO-TV, the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City, OK, is seeking an experienced broadcast IT Systems Technician—a role that presents an excellent opportunity for both entry‐level candidates and seasoned professionals to foster career growth through training, mentoring, and hands‑on experience. You will work alongside the engineering team to maintain, repair, and upgrade equipment covering all aspects of operations from IT systems to cameras and transmitters. Additionally, you will perform daily maintenance on computers, virtual systems, network infrastructure, printers, and provide user support. Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities: Support station IT operations under the direction of the IT manager, Assistant Chief Engineer, and Chief Engineer.
  • Support user needs across all departments, including News, Creative Services, Sales, and Administration.
  • Maintain LAN/IT infrastructure and provide installation and support for network hardware and software.
  • Provide technical guidance to end‑users and offer mobile device support.
  • Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to support on‑air systems and workflows including news, production, and broadcast equipment.
  • Offer user support in a Windows workstation environment for both custom and standard software applications.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of operating systems, applications, and services to ensure system reliability and security.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, installation, documentation, research, and cabling tasks.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical drawings, system diagrams, and infrastructure documentation using AutoCAD.

Required Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of electronics and component repair.
  • Knowledge of computers, computer systems, and basic IP networking.
  • Working knowledge of managed network switches and architecture concepts.
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Skills with video production, microwave systems, and IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.; climb ladders, work on rooftops, and in confined spaces.
  • Schedule: Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts, including holidays and weekends.
  • Education: Higher education in technology, SBE, or equivalent related military experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • VMWare, Cisco, or Microsoft certifications.
  • Autocad/Visio proficiency for system design and layout.
  • Background in transmission and satellite communications.
