Position Overview
Target’s Global UX team is a dynamic group of design, research, and accessibility experts dedicated to improving Target’s digital experiences for guests, team members, and partners. As the Director of UX for the Roundel and MarTech team, you will lead 10 designers and design managers in driving innovative, AI-powered digital solutions and scalable marketing technologies.
You will partner with cross-functional leaders—including UX, Product, Tech, Data Science, Marketing, and Business—to co-create and execute strategies that enhance every digital touchpoint. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence design direction in a complex, matrixed organization while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
Compensation: The pay range is $163,000.00 - $294,000.00, based on multiple factors including labor market, education, work experience, and certifications.
This position may be Remote or Hybrid (referred to internally as "Flex for Your Day") depending on role requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive experience vision and strategy for Roundel and MarTech Messaging.
- Develop roadmaps in partnership with cross-functional leaders across organizational priorities.
- Oversee scalable, AI-powered multi-channel experiences, including personalized media and messaging formats.
- Manage end-to-end AI-powered marketing and ad-tech platform workflows including CRM, CMS, campaign automation, decisioning, bidding, and performance management.
- Define service blueprints and UX success metrics to optimize system and experience outcomes and facilitate AI-driven decision making.
- Prioritize across multi-platform, multi-stakeholder roadmaps using design leadership and co-creation methods.
- Enhance the team’s ability to deliver high-quality, accessible, and innovative digital experiences.
- Evolve team composition by assembling groups that effectively deliver cross-area missions.
- Support the growth of UX managers through mentoring, performance management, and regular 1:1 interactions.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in UX/digital product design with a strong design craft.
- Foundational understanding of digital retail and ad-tech businesses.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience, including hiring, mentoring, and coaching high-performing remote or cross-geography teams.
- Ability to balance short-term and long-term objectives while maintaining high quality and team performance.
- Proficiency in identifying and resolving issues to meet strategic, business, and financial goals.
- Strong data-driven visual, verbal, and written storytelling skills.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders through all phases of the design process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in large, matrixed, global or multi-national organizations.
- Proven track record of scaling UX teams and building communities of practice.
- Adept at leveraging AI-driven solutions for enhancing user experience.
