Position Overview
We’re a professional services company at the intersection of marketing and technology — partnering with ambitious brands to solve complex challenges, accelerate growth, and drive performance. As the SEO Director, you will lead and evolve our SEO strategy to drive organic growth and ensure the success of our clients’ digital marketing campaigns. You will position SEO as a driver of broader business outcomes while working collaboratively across cross-functional teams. This full-time role requires 2 days per week in the office. For New York City, the estimated salary range is between $135,000 and $155,000; for Chicago, between $122,000 and $140,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and factors permitted by law.
Key Responsibilities
- Client management and leadership – Lead end-to-end the direction and execution of client engagements, manage teams, ensure appropriate resource allocation, build a scalable operational model, and develop long-lasting client relationships.
- Strategic Search Optimization – Develop and implement comprehensive SEO strategies aligned with clients' business goals, including in-depth research, competitive analysis, and clear communication of SEO results.
- Operational Excellence – Own the execution of comprehensive SEO programs including AI search strategy, technical SEO, content optimization, and performance analysis using advanced tools and data-driven insights.
- Thought Leadership and Growth – Create industry POVs, thought leadership papers, compelling case studies, and lead new business efforts by representing SEO capabilities in integrated solutions and go-to-market strategies.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of SEO experience in a digital agency, consultancy, or enterprise environment with a proven track record of driving measurable business outcomes.
- 3+ years of experience managing SEO teams or direct reports, with demonstrated ability to grow and mentor talent.
- Deep expertise in technical SEO, on-page/off-page optimization, AI-driven search, and cross-channel integration.
- Proven history of leading complex SEO programs with clear ROI, along with proficiency in tools such as GA4, Adobe Analytics, Google Search Console, Semrush, Screaming Frog, and Looker Studio.
- Experience in modern CMS environments; knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals.
- Skilled in delivering data-informed strategies and performance reports to senior and C-level stakeholders.
- Demonstrated strengths in new business development including opportunity scoping, proposal writing, and client presentations.
- Highly organized with exceptional project management skills, and a clear, confident communication style.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
