NeuroLyze is an early-stage health technology startup dedicated to engineering solutions for head monitoring and neurological health screening in athletics. The company’s immediate priority is refining and developing its MVP for beta testing. Learn more at neurolyze.net.
In this role, you will support IoT-based product development from prototype to MVP and beyond, primarily by building the data platform. This is a long-term, part-time position (minimum 10 hours per week) ideally for a candidate based in the Greater Boston region. As compensation is offered in the form of Vested Equity, please only apply if you are committed to the venture and can manage this role alongside other commitments.
This position offers immense growth potential, with early-stage members having the opportunity to develop into C-level roles as the company expands. While primarily remote, occasional in-person meetings and travels to customer sites may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Building and developing frontend (UI/UX) and backend web and/or mobile applications (React, Flutter, or similar frameworks) for data insights and a seamless user experience
- Integrating data processing/filtering and analysis in collaboration with engineers
- Coding new features of the device using the data it collects
- Implementing and refining the use of ML algorithms (and AI processes) to improve features and data accuracy
- Developing custom APIs for data retrieval and processing
- Working with cloud services for data storage, visualization, and device management
- Developing and executing test plans for firmware and mobile application validation
- Implementing security measures for data encryption and device authentication
- Optimizing processes for efficient data collection and transfer to applications
- Updating and maintaining the website (both frontend and backend)
Required Qualifications
- Commitment to a long-term startup venture with a minimum of 10 hours per week
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple commitments (e.g., student or full-time position)
- Availability for remote work with occasional in-person meetings in the Greater Boston region
- Strong communication skills and adaptability in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with frontend and backend application development and management
- API design and integration for robust data insights
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Firebase, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to convert data into actionable insights
- Familiarity with IoT and communication protocols (BLE, IoT, MQTT, etc.)
- Strong debugging skills for hardware-software interactions
- Experience with embedded programming and troubleshooting (C/C++, Python)
- Ability to work independently and adapt to fluctuating timelines and deadlines
