Job Description
Position Overview
Traega Entertainment is seeking a Senior Systems Designer passionate about crafting compelling gameplay systems. In this full-time, on-site role based in Nashville, Tennessee, you will bring creative technical solutions to life, prototype innovative gameplay features, lead feature teams, and mentor junior designers – ensuring memorable user experiences for a new PC/Console franchise.
Key Responsibilities
- Create exciting gameplay systems supporting the creative vision of the game
- Collaborate with Senior Management and the Design team to define and implement core gameplay systems
- Prototype gameplay systems for evaluation by the Game Director and Senior Management
- Iterate on gameplay systems based on playtesting feedback
- Lead feature-specific strike teams and mentor junior designers
- Conduct gameplay evaluations and provide feedback to fine tune the user experience
- Locate and fix bugs in your work and assist in resolving colleagues’ issues
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years of game development with systems design contributions to a shipped AAA title
- Experience with Unreal Engine content tools and level editing pipelines
- Strong scripting background, particularly with Unreal Engine’s Blueprint tool
- Ability to quickly adapt to new pipelines and content tools
- Excellent documentation skills to create clear specifications and flow charts for system behaviors
- Proven capacity to mentor and lead multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Multiple shipped AAA titles in Unreal Engine
- Experience designing systems for multiplayer titles
- Combat design experience
- A passion for the Open World Crafting Survival genre
- Familiarity with other areas of game development and emerging industry trends
