Job Description

Job Description

Our client, a leading player in the oil and gas industry, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Reservoir Engineer to join their operations team in Austin, Texas, US. This is an on-site position critical for optimizing hydrocarbon recovery from existing and new reservoirs. You will be responsible for performing advanced reservoir characterization, developing simulation models, and conducting performance analysis to forecast production and identify development opportunities. This includes evaluating various recovery methods such as enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques. The Reservoir Engineer will work closely with geoscientists, production engineers, and management to define field development strategies, optimize well placement, and manage reservoir performance over its lifecycle. We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical foundation in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and geology, coupled with extensive experience in reservoir simulation software (e.g., Eclipse, Petrel RE). The ability to analyze complex data sets, make sound engineering judgments, and communicate technical findings effectively to diverse audiences is essential. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship, and the drive to maximize the economic value of our company's assets.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed reservoir characterization using geological, geophysical, and engineering data.
  • Develop, calibrate, and run complex reservoir simulation models.
  • Forecast reservoir performance, including production rates and ultimate recovery.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimal development strategies, including well placement and EOR methods.
  • Analyze production data and identify opportunities for optimization and intervention.
  • Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and production engineers to integrate reservoir understanding.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to reserve estimations and economic evaluations.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in reservoir engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree: in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Master's degree: preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years: of experience in reservoir engineering, with a strong focus on simulation and performance analysis.
  • Proficiency: with industry-standard reservoir simulation software (e.g., Schlumberger Eclipse, Landmark DecisionSpace Geosciences).
  • Solid understanding: of reservoir characterization, fluid flow in porous media, and recovery mechanisms.
  • Experience: with uncertainty analysis and risk assessment in reservoir management.
  • Excellent analytical: problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written: and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively.
  • Ability: to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience: in unconventional reservoir development is a plus.
