Position Overview
Boston Globe Media is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Designer, Brand Marketing to lead design initiatives and support marketing activations across our portfolio of brands including The Boston Globe, Boston.com, and Boston Magazine. Reporting to the Creative Director on the Brand Marketing team, this role is central to elevating brand identity by delivering creative concepts that drive awareness, engagement, subscriptions, and loyalty. The ideal candidate has a strong background in design, creative concepting, and visual storytelling with a proven ability to bring marketing strategies to life through impactful visuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Creative Director, Brand Marketing to ideate and design integrated campaigns that increase awareness, engagement, subscriptions, and drive loyalty.
- Provide design support for marketing initiatives including brand campaigns, events, partnerships, sales collateral, and digital activations.
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions and concept development for cross-platform marketing efforts.
- Translate marketing strategies into compelling visual storytelling, ensuring alignment with campaign objectives.
- Execute creative deliverables across various channels including digital, social, and print, and perform photo editing and retouching as needed.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, collaborating with editorial, product, and partnership teams.
- Maintain organized design files, assets, and workflows to ensure efficiency and consistency.
- Uphold and evolve the distinct visual identity of each brand property, ensuring creative solutions are on brand, on time, and on budget.
- Present creative concepts and campaign work to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an agency or in-house design setting.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong sense of typography, layout, and visual storytelling.
- Proven ability to deliver successful creative solutions across diverse formats including print, digital, social, and environmental design.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting creative concepts.
- Digital Portfolio for Review – required.
- A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working across multiple brands or within a media organization.
- Experience working in video.

- Compensation: Annual salary of $70,000 - $90,000.
