Job Description
Position Overview
Maximus is currently seeking a Director, Finance & Accounting. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and providing financial oversight to the business. This is a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial budgeting, forecasting, and reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including variance analysis between forecast and actual.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of forecasting, reporting, accruals, and other financial processes.
- Provide direct financial leadership and support for assessing service allocation rates and cost pool composition.
- Collaborate with group and project finance teams to develop, administer, and implement process improvements and cost allocation methodologies.
- Lead a team of financial professionals to develop and implement a consistent financial strategy aligned with the organization’s overall objectives.
- Oversee maintenance of project financial records and forecasts.
- Provide strategic pricing leadership to support new business areas.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Oversee the monthly and quarterly financial close process.
- Coordinate with Project Management to develop operational productivity analysis and identify cost efficiencies.
- Review contract modifications, maintain financial contract files, and prepare necessary reports, documentation, and presentations.
- Ensure client invoices comply with MAXIMUS policy and client requirements for accurate and timely billing.
- Manage Direct Sales Outstanding by expediting collections and minimizing unbilled amounts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, US GAAP, FAR, CAS, and statutory regulations.
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasting and performance analysis in collaboration with Project Management.
- Prepare routine and ad-hoc financial reports using proprietary tools and systems.
- Lead cooperative efforts among team members and provide ongoing supervision.
- Identify and resolve issues, problems, and concerns proactively.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet objectives and recommend procedural improvements.
- Interact professionally with external and internal customers.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all corporate information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- 10-12 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 5 years in project accounting/financial control and 2-3 years of management experience.
- United States Citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain or maintain a government-issued security clearance.
- Proven DoD financial experience and strategic pricing experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially strong skills in Word and Excel.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analyses in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- A self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team.

- Compensation: Annual salary range of $145,000.00 to $160,000.00, determined by factors such as education, training, experience, and performance.
