Job Description

About the position

As Senior Manager of Logistics and Trade Compliance, you will manage all logistics execution and compliance programs within PPG's overall supply chain strategy. You will develop best in class policies and processes in inbound and outbound domestic and Import/Export transportation. You will also oversee storage solutions, fleet management, reverse logistics and oversight of trade compliance issues. You will be based at the Greensboro, North Carolina PPG facility and report to the Global Supply Chain Director.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee personnel needs including recruitment, selection, training, guidance/mentoring and retention.
  • Ensure logistics procedures are established and communicated across manufacturing and distribution facilities.
  • Promote leadership support to other company business functions in the development of internal client solutions and transportation models.
  • Ensure the existence, maintenance, and functioning of an adequate system of internal controls in all areas of Logistics.
  • Oversee performance and relationship of 3rd party transportation management service provider, customs brokers and freight forwarders.
  • Oversee internal fleet and right-sizing effort to include safety and DOT compliance, cost visibility and profitability.
  • Manage the logistics operations budget and all related fiscal forecasting, reporting and variance analysis.
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative process between commercial team, plant operations personnel and corporate logistics leadership with goal of streamlining processes and balancing service improvement with costs.
  • Facilitate distribution network and total landed cost analysis.
  • Enforce corporate guidelines regarding import/export control operations, trade compliance programs and C-TPAT programs.
  • Develop and present monthly critical metric dashboards and scorecards as part of the Supply Chain reporting model.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
  • MBA or APICS certifications a plus.
  • 10+ years in a leadership role across domestic and international logistics.
  • Knowledge of bulk transportation, including rail, rail transload operations a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage both direct and indirect reporting relationships in a matrix organization.
  • Working knowledge of international commerce— Incoterms, customs regulations, and international supply chain processes.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management software, SAP or Oracle OTM a plus.
  • Broad project management skills and disciplined in developing objectives, action plans and effective in defending and selling decisions with confidence.
  • Experience in cost reductions, productivity improvements, leadership and communication skills.
