Position Overview

Debut is an unconventional innovation lab pioneering scalable, integrated, climate-positive biotechnology solutions for sustainable personal care product development. Based in San Diego, CA (Onsite Full-time required), the Senior Account Manager plays a critical role bridging external brand partners and internal formulation and manufacturing teams to ensure timely, high-quality product delivery—from the initial product brief through to launch and repeat orders. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about fast-paced innovation, collaborative teamwork, and excellent client relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for brand partners, overseeing project kickoffs, development phases, and product launches.
  • Lead customer calls and project reviews, translating client needs into actionable product briefs and ensuring internal alignment.
  • Oversee new product development by managing formulation revisions, sample approvals, and development timelines.
  • Collaborate with R&D, quality, regulatory, production, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution and risk management.
  • Drive business growth by securing new accounts and repeat orders through strategic relationship management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of account management experience in the personal care or beauty industry with a proven track record.
  • Proficiency with CRM and project tracking tools (e.g., Monday.com, Teams) as well as managing complex customer relationships.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a hybrid commercial and technical role, such as technical sales, product development, or brand management.
  • Familiarity with GMP, regulatory, and product testing standards for personal care products.
  • Prior experience collaborating with contract manufacturers and cross-functional teams in the product development lifecycle.
