Position Overview
The Mid-level Mechanical Engineer serves to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment. The position responsibilities primarily are focused on the design of mechanical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects. This role requires providing technical leadership for creating construction drawings and specifications, performing existing system studies, and supporting master planning efforts. Qualified candidates will meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others to address mechanical issues and develop effective working relationships. This position is perfect for someone interested in mentoring junior staff and moving into senior leadership!
Key Responsibilities
- Develop HVAC system designs based on the project scope and client RFPs.
- Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for various market types.
- Perform load/energy calculations using software such as Trace 700, IES, and similar programs.
- Develop reports and studies.
- Write and edit project specifications.
- Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies.
- Conduct assessments of existing buildings and document existing HVAC systems.
- Provide construction administration services.
- Utilize Revit; training provided for those without prior experience.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Possess EIT certification
- Experience Required: 4+ years hands-on building design experience
- Knowledge in the design of HVAC systems
- Understanding of codes, standards, and design guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent work ethic and attitude
- Good communication skills combined with strong organizational abilities
- Ability to lead and work as part of a team
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office
- Ability to travel
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000, based on experience
- Location: Rochester, MN – Hybrid
- Sign-On Bonus: Up to $10,000K
