Position Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Back End Enterprise Platforms Technology at Capital One in Baltimore, MD, you will design, develop, test, and support cloud-based technical solutions that empower millions of customers. Working in Agile teams, you will leverage diverse programming languages and cloud services to drive transformative enterprise platform initiatives while continuously learning, mentoring, and innovating technology practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using full-stack development tools and technologies.
• Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends; experiment with and learn new technologies; participate in internal & external technology communities; and mentor fellow engineers.
• Work with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences for millions of Americans, empowering them financially.
• Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, along with Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, container orchestration (Docker and Kubernetes), and a variety of AWS tools and services.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
• 1+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

• Compensation: For example, McLean, VA positions offer $158,600 - $181,000 and Richmond, VA positions offer $144,200 - $164,600 annually for Senior Software Engineer roles. Actual offers will be detailed in the candidate’s offer letter.
