Job Description

Position Overview

This position provides first level support for users of SCDC Health IT Systems in a dynamic environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the Electronic Health Record (EHR), Offender Management System, Lab Information System, PACS System, Pharmacy Information System, Medical Videoconferencing, and other medical technologies.
In addition, the candidate will support help desk services for the SCDC mainframe system, PC network, and telecommunications, serving as the central point for passwords, user IDs, access inquiries, and technical issues.Schedule: Hours vary as dictated by network coverage needs with rotating on‐call duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under limited supervision, provides first level support for users of SCDC Health IT Systems including: Electronic Health Record, Offender Management System, Lab Information System, PACS System, Pharmacy Information System, Medical Videoconferencing, and all other medical technologies.
  • Assists the Electronic Health Record (EHR) support staff with advanced level support of end users.
  • Provides first level support and help desk services for users of the SCDC mainframe system, PC network, and telecommunications.
  • Serves as the central point of contact for all passwords, user IDs, access questions, and problems.
  • Acts as the point of contact for IT and telecommunications hardware/exchange/repairs including: printers, card scanners, pagers, telephones, cell phones, receipt printers, and digital cameras.
  • Serves as back-up to other help desk staff members and participates in cross-training to ensure comprehensive support coverage.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A high school diploma with experience in office automation systems, data communications design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for work experience.
  • Requirements: SCDC minimum requirements include either an associate’s degree with two years’ experience with automated systems, microcomputers, minicomputers, data communication hardware and software; or a high school diploma with four years’ experience.
  • Qualifications: Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing and work collaboratively in a technical environment providing first level problem determination for on-line systems statewide.
  • Experience Required: At least one year of help desk experience.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting 50 to 70 lbs.

  • Experience with electronic medical records is a plus.
