In this specialized role you will administer and manage the State Block Grant Program (SBGP), oversee airport development projects, and ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines throughout the entire project lifecycle. Compensation: The salary range reflects the minimum through maximum rates for the Transportation Engineer Licensed Specialist 13 position.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage the State Block Grant Program (SBGP) by developing, monitoring, and managing approved grants and projects from programming through financial closeout.
- Serve as the technical expert for SBGP oversight, ensuring airport development projects comply with federal guidelines, state standards, and engineering best practices.
- Lead and coordinate project management tasks, including the allocation, administration, and tracking of federal funds for geographically assigned and politically sensitive airports.
- Oversee various airport projects such as runway development, taxiway extensions, airfield pavement rehabilitations, lighting, electronic navigational aids, terminal buildings, and related acquisitions.
- Collaborate closely with the FAA, the Planning and Environmental Unit, and other stakeholders to evaluate capital projects and ensure program conformance throughout all phases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including experience at Transportation Engineer P11 (or equivalent at Transportation Engineer 12 / Transportation Engineer Licensed 12).
- Possession of a registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
- If applicable, submission of official college transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluations as defined by the State of Michigan.
