Position Overview

Gulf Coast JFCS is seeking a Help Desk Technician – a non-exempt position responsible for providing technical support and assistance to agency staff, contractors, interns, and volunteers. This is the initial support level responsible for addressing basic customer issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide agency personnel with software application support, hardware support, and phone voicemail assistance, including troubleshooting physical layer issues, resolving username/password problems, reinstalling basic software, verifying proper hardware/software setup, and navigating application menus.
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of all computer hardware, software, and basic personal computer support.
  • Provide training and support for phone systems.
  • Install and troubleshoot hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, disk drives, and repair computer, phone, and mobile equipment.
  • Maintain adequate stock of computer supplies to ensure efficient operations.
  • Help manage an agency-wide inventory of computer hardware, software, and peripherals, including recycling of old equipment.
  • Maintain accurate user records including logins and primary systems used.
  • Prepare word processing documents, spreadsheets, and databases for technical support and training purposes.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in computer technology, equivalent technical school certification, CompTIA A+ or Network Certification, or substantial work experience.
  • At least one (1) year of experience maintaining computer systems, preferably using MS Windows operating systems.
  • Must participate in continuing education/training each year.
  • Working knowledge of all MS Office products.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under busy and time-pressured situations and coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry office supplies and files up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform functions in a sedentary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned work area/region of Florida and maintain a valid driver's license with auto insurance coverage.
