Our client, a leader in the aviation industry, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer to join their team in Columbus, Ohio, US. This role is critical for the design, integration, testing, and verification of complex aerospace systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in aerospace engineering principles, a strong understanding of systems engineering processes, and a proven ability to manage challenging technical projects from conception through completion. You will be responsible for defining system requirements, developing system architectures, performing trade studies, and ensuring that all system components meet stringent performance, safety, and reliability standards. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including structures, propulsion, avionics, and software engineers, as well as project management. This position requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience. Expertise in systems engineering tools and methodologies (e.g., MBSE, DOORS) is essential, as is experience with simulation and modeling software. The successful candidate must have a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A background in aircraft design, satellite systems, or advanced propulsion technologies is highly desirable. Your Responsibilities
- Define and manage system requirements for aerospace projects.
- Develop and validate aerospace system architectures.
- Perform system integration, verification, and validation activities.
- Conduct technical trade studies and make design recommendations.
- Lead system-level troubleshooting and anomaly resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Create and maintain system engineering documentation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
- Support program reviews and customer meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in aerospace systems engineering.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle.
- Experience with MBSE, DOORS, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in simulation and modeling software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
- Knowledge of aerospace vehicle subsystems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eligibility for US security clearance may be required.
