Job Description

Position Overview

The Route Sales Representative closes sales through face-to-face interaction with customers within assigned territories. In this role, you will meet with potential and existing customers to present sales proposals and inform them of product benefits and features. You will also play a key role in increasing distribution and display activity by managing and negotiating with clients, researching sales competition, qualifying prospects, and overseeing the sales of products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct professional product presentations to current Retail customers.
  • Stimulate market growth through new distribution and coverage in independent Retail C-Stores supplied by cash & carry and c-store distributors.
  • Evaluate customer needs and build productive, long-lasting relationships.
  • Achieve sales goals while building brand presence through merchandising.
  • Attend meetings, sales events, and trainings to stay updated on industry developments.
  • Assist customers with ordering information, provide quotations, and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Utilize iPad technology for daily and weekly inventory/sales reporting.
  • Drive a company van (Ford Transit, Connect, or similar) throughout the work day.
  • Manage cash and client product inventory.
  • Follow navigation/directions, communicate effectively, and solve customer challenges.
  • Meet physical requirements such as lifting up to 30lbs and pushing/pulling up to 80lbs.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to follow directions and handle customer challenges.
  • Physically capable of bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting as needed.
  • Experience driving larger vehicles such as Sprinter Vans, Box Trucks, Straight Trucks, or Step Vans is a plus.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
  • 1-2 years of sales or consumer goods industry experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and sales skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Able to read and follow a plan-o-gram (POG) and use an iPad/Tablet for work purposes.
