Position Overview

In a dynamic, fast‑paced environment, the Information Technology Department (ITD) is transforming IT services across the City. The ITD is hiring an Assistant to the Director—a program management role that collaborates across teams to manage projects, budgets, contracts, and process improvements while driving innovation in technology and administrative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with program and project managers across ITD and city agencies on IT project planning and implementation related to permitting and GIS.
- Track milestones, create budgets, forecast needs, and guide hands‑on implementation.
- Resolve business needs by implementing effective IT solutions and supporting the citywide technology governance process.
- Oversee departmental administrative functions and operational improvements.
- Work with cross‑functional groups to identify innovative ways to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree is desirable.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience, including two years in a supervisory role.
- Proven ability to manage complex budgets, contracts, and projects with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License or demonstrate the ability to travel efficiently as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications (e.g., PMP) are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in technical and program analysis, as well as in implementing process improvements.
