Job Description
Position Overview
The Vice President – Entity IT Services is responsible for overseeing the overall IT operational delivery and effectiveness across Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) entities. Reporting directly to the Vice President and CIO, this role leads the Executive IT Directors and their onsite teams while ensuring that technology usage is optimized through standardized processes, effective resource management, and strategic alignment in support of the organization’s mission.
Working in close collaboration with business, clinical, and academic leaders, the VP drives the development and implementation of strategic plans that advance the overarching goals of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, guidance, and support to five (5) Executive Directors of IT and two (2) additional Executive Directors through indirect reporting relationships.
- Leads the entity support IT leadership team by sharing best practices, evaluating new technologies, managing enterprise-wide projects, and shaping system strategy.
- Ensures delivery of high-quality, reliable IT services by directly managing service level agreements and coordinating with senior IT leaders.
- Fosters a culture of exceptional customer service through continuous improvement and responsiveness to stakeholder needs.
- Manages IT resiliency and downtime plans, coordinating drills and corrective actions with Emergency Management.
- Collaborates with Facilities, Clinical Engineering, Supply Chain, and the VP of Clinical Applications to develop cost-effective, reliable technology solutions.
- Interprets customer business needs and recommends strategic investments in technology, applications, processes, and personnel.
- Guides the development of technology-related policies and represents IT on business-driven policy committees internally and externally.
- Balances personnel and funding to meet operational and strategic goals while identifying and resolving critical issues.
- Develops business plans and ROI assessments, and completes contract reviews.
- Represents the organization at industry, state, and federal meetings to safeguard its interests.
- Designs and implements technical solutions essential to sustaining ongoing operations.
- Oversees the development and monitoring of IT budgets, managing both capital and operating expenditures with corrective actions as needed.
- Represents senior organizational leadership with delegated authority in internal and external meetings while proactively addressing potential concerns.
- Leads workforce development including employee recruitment, retention, and establishing clear performance expectations aligned with annual goals.
- Maintains a normal office environment with the ability to meet tight deadlines and travel regionally between JHM entities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, or related field.
- Systems implementation experience in a large hospital or health system.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, healthcare, operations, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of management experience with significant business impact.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in an Academic Medical Center IT or Operations environment.
- Certification in project management (PMP) is a plus.
