Position Overview
ER Tech-Nursing in the Emergency Room Department at Saint Anthony Hospital is a role dedicated to providing basic patient care under the direct supervision of a nurse. Saint Anthony Hospital is a diverse, community‑centric organization committed to addressing the health and wellness challenges of local families. Position Purpose: Provides basic care for patients including assistance with activities of daily living, obtaining and documenting vital signs, maintaining and stocking supplies, applying simple dressings, and performing other basic treatments as delegated by a nurse. All care is delivered safely, effectively, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs basic nursing care based on patients’ age‑related needs, including activities of daily living, obtaining and documenting vital signs, and applying simple dressings as delegated by the nurse. (35%)
- Ensures that patient rooms and other areas are kept clean and orderly as instructed by nursing. (25%)
- Observes patients’ conditions and reports any changes to the nurse while demonstrating sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy. (10%)
- Orders supplies for the department, ensuring adequate par levels and communicating any supply needs. (10%)
- Performs quality measures and point‑of‑care testing in the department. (5%)
- Handles clerical duties related to order entry, registration, discharge, and other tasks in the absence of coordinators. (3%)
- Assists in transporting patients throughout the organization. (2%)
- Collects capillary and venous specimens and/or establishes IV access using aseptic techniques, ensuring correct patient identification. (10%)
Required Qualifications
- Eligible candidates should be a student nurse in a program, an EMT, or have completed a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant program
- 1‑3 years of related experience, preferably in the ER
- EKG and phlebotomy skills preferred
- CPR certification required
