Position Overview

In this Electrical Engineer III role, you will lead complex maintenance engineering functions focused on our condition-based maintenance program, equipment repair, and troubleshooting. Work within Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies at the Kansas City National Security Campus, contributing to cutting edge solutions that address critical national security challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support to Production and Maintenance organizations with a focus on expanding the condition-based maintenance program.
- Handle new equipment specifications, vendor checkouts, installations, document management, and develop preventive/predictive maintenance procedures while leading troubleshooting activities.
- Assist and/or lead in the design and management of facility projects, equipment improvements, and reliability initiatives.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex maintenance and troubleshooting issues, supporting repair teams including electricians and pipefitters.
- Support facility electrical safety programs for maintenance and engineering requirements.
- Prepare evaluation reports, recommend cost-effective improvements for equipment maintainability and reliability, and support productivity and safety enhancements.
- Provide project leadership and technical guidance on complex engineering projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited university in Engineering or Physics.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
- Flexibility to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management based on business needs.
- United States Citizenship.
- Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance, if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Application of advanced design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to complex engineering projects.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision with independent decision-making.
- Experience in predictive maintenance technologies and/or machine health monitoring for faster troubleshooting and reduced downtime.
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems such as Maximo.
- Proven capability to troubleshoot machine issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Experience with designing, installing, repairing, or retrofitting complex machines.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory, circuits, schematics, and hardware applications.
- Ability to provide technical guidance, manage projects, conduct risk assessments, and contribute innovative solutions.
- Experience with automated equipment controls including PC, PLC, and CNC controlled systems.
- Proficiency in CAD and/or solid modeling tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Strong communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, mathematical proficiency, and solid documentation practices.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications to enhance process improvements.
