Position Overview

UHS, which employs approximately 99,000 people across the U.S., Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the United Kingdom, is currently recruiting for its Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

Located in Aiken, SC (Location: Aiken, SC), this 273-bed acute care facility, established in 1917, offers a comprehensive range of specialties and services to its community. The COO is responsible for day-to-day hospital operations, implementing the CEO’s strategy, and managing hospital departments to maximize both quality of care and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs effective quality operations to maximize return on investment and community reputation by increasing revenues, managing cost controls in areas such as staffing, supplies, and purchased services, and achieving desired margin percentages.
  • Develops and provides quality programs and services to the community, ensuring all employees are committed to excellence in care and service delivery.
  • Manages and develops employees by establishing clear direction, coaching, providing feedback, and fostering a motivating work environment to achieve highest performance levels.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience Required: Five years of hospital experience with at least two to three years in a senior-level management role.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Health Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Must be organized and capable of managing multiple diverse departments simultaneously.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage the nuances of multiple hospital operations and communicate effectively with employees and vendors.
  • Proven ability to motivate, inspire, and communicate with both individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the financial implications of decisions, including budgeting and forecasting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree preferred in Business, Health Administration, or a closely related field.
