Job Description

Position Overview

Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Restoration Team in support of the Army Environmental Cleanup Program at facilities located in DC, MD, NJ, and PA. This full-time remote role requires routine travel to Army Installations for field visits, oversight tasks, and client meetings. Candidates must be prepared to work independently, manage multiple projects, and excel in both technical and communication aspects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities: Review environmental documents and technical reports.
  • Manage and oversee environmental projects including compliance-related efforts such as stormwater management, spill prevention, and hazardous materials response.
  • Coordinate with clients, Army Installation Environmental Staff, and regulators to ensure project success.
  • Provide support for field visits, technical oversight, and report writing.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field. (Master's degree a plus)
  • Qualifications: Experience in CERCLA/RCRA environmental cleanup projects and working knowledge of DoD Cleanup Program and regional regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to serve in multiple roles as project and client needs change.
  • Must be able to successfully pass DoD security clearances and background checks; US citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CERCLA/RCRA program requirements and experience in conducting or overseeing Remedial Investigations (RI), Feasibility Studies (FS), and site remediation projects.
  • Experience with DoD cleanup projects and in preparing detailed environmental reports.
  • Familiarity with emerging contaminants, specifically PFAS, is desirable.
  • Previous work experience with the DoD, Maryland Department of the Environment, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, or D.C. Department Energy & Environment is a plus.
